How did GSJH begin?
For teenagers eager to work in the summer of 1981, the prospects were not very good.
Colorado's unemployment rate hit 5.3% in June of that year, translating to almost 82,000
young people with pretty slim chances of finding a summer job. In response, the Governor's
Summer Job Hunt (GSJH) was created.
GSJH was established to guide Colorado's youth in matching their skills with employment opportunities.
Where is GSJH now?
Continuing with the original goals in mind, GSJH has assisted several hundred thousand youth statewide since 1981.
Workforce Boulder County has contributed to the success of GSJH by exhibiting a consistent yearly increase in the number of Boulder County youth sewed. This has been achieved by enhancing program services, employer awareness, and relationships with other Boulder County youth organizations.
